Born:  February 26, 1945 - Place:  Buffalo, New York. 
Parents:  Urho & Wanda Saari.

At El Segundo High School

Water Polo and Swimming.


USC, 1966 BA - Loyola Law School, J.D., 1973 - Member of Loyola Law School Review.

Athletic Career

1964 USA Olympic Swim Team, Gold Medal (800m freestyle relay) and Silver medal (400m individual medley).  Set 4 World records, including the first sub 17 minute 1500m freestyle.  Holds 17 AAU individual and relay swim titles.  Held 9 individual NCAA records, Captain, USC Swim Team, 3 consecutive NCAA Swimming Championships (1964-1966)  Three time All-American Water Polo player at USC.  Inducted in the International Swimming Hall of Fame (1976), USA Water Polo Hall of Fame (1982), USC Athletic Hall of Fame (1995).


Attorney in Southern California until 1978, Real Estate developer Mammoth Lakes, CA.
Served 15 years on the Mammoth Lakes Planning Commission.


Married to Sheryl, 42 years, son Jeff, Daughter Joani, 4 grandchildren.
