"I'm grateful that my family moved to El Segundo as I began the sixth grade.  That provided me with seven years in a welcoming community, and a first-rate education from teachers who were demanding, but supportive.  Despite the intrusion of World War II, it was a relaxed society by today's standards.  In all, a wonderful place to grow up - for all that, I appreciate El Segundo as a community and have special regard for my days at El Segundo High School."
